The OMG (Object Management Group – an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium that is behind well-known standards like CORBA or the UML) has published its highlights for the year 2014.
A quick (and I admit, slightly sarcastic 🙂 ) summary would be the following: every day a new standard brought to you.
Agreed, standards are in theory a good thing, standards are like love: too many standards will kill you. A quick look at the OMG adopted specifications page reveals more than 200 specifications already and as part of its highlights post, OMG announces seven more only on the specific topic of Internet of Things.
