Thanks to Margit Schwab, I’ve recently discovered the ADOxx meta-modeling platform developed by a team led by Prof. Dimitris Karagiannis from the University of Vienna. The tool is an evolution of the ADONIS tool for Business Process Modeling.
Similar to the Eclipse Modeling Tools , ADOxx can be used to create a modeling environment for your domain-specific language (DSL) given the metamodel of the DSL and the graphical representation of all its meta elements.
From what I’ve seen, the tool generates very nice modeling GUIs and offers some advanced (online and offline) configuration capabilities (e.g. you can instantaneously change the graphical representation of a meta-class, it is not necessary to regenerate/recompile the modeling environment).
As far as I understand, the tool is not yet publicly available but will be provided to those teams willing to participate in the Open Models initiative that we briefly described here.

Hi,
I just discovered your website – great work 😉
Maybe you would like to update the above post: ADOxx is now freely available for download at http://www.adoxx.org and at http://www.omilab.org there are now already more than 40 projects developing modeling tools based on ADOxx.
We also recently published an article on ADOxx:
Fill, Hans-Georg, Karagiannis, Dimitris (2013): On the Conceptualisation of Modelling Methods Using the ADOxx Meta Modelling Platform, Enterprise Modelling and Information Systems Architectures – An International Journal, Vol. 8, Issue 1, 4-25. Best regards – currently from Ecole des Mines, St. Etienne,
