EMF Facet and EMF Profiles are two lightweight extension mechanisms for EMF models. With both tools you are able to extend or annotate your existing models with additional information without having to modify the metamodel they conform to (which as we all know would be a real pain in the ass! and could force you to recreate your modeling environments).
