We are interested in understanding the problems people face when trying to contribute to open source projects (where “contribute” is used in the broadest possible sense: from reporting a bug to submitting a patch or even leading the poject). Despite a few very successful projects, our personal experience and some available data suggests that most projects have very few active participants (e.g. this study reports that overall, 87% of projects have 5 or fewer committers per year).
Our belief is that one of the main reasons is that people feel that contributing to OSS projects is too difficult but we would like you to enlighten us (and the community) by sharing your experience when contributing (or trying to) to such projects. This survey takes less than 5 minutes to answer. Results of the survye will make publicly available online. Hope we can later on provide some kind of answer to those problems!. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
are you going to publish survey results? If yes, when and where?
For sure. And soon. Here in this same portal in a new post. Just some more days of patience 🙂
