Spring is here and with it many seasonal allergies. Today, however, I´d like to mention a yearlong one, the modelling allergy a clear case of hypersensitivity disorder that provokes a strong allergic reaction when the person is faced with software models (and related model-driven artefacts).

There’s no clear treatment for this allergy. As specific anti-histamines, I’d recommend following this portal where you may read discussions about the benefits of modeling (and their empirical evidence) or how cool is MDE the coolness factor of MDE among many others. Hopefully, this will at least soften your symptoms.

Fortunately, it seems that this allergy is incompatible with other known modeling-related diseases like the UML Fever or the more recent DSL fever. Nevertheless, patients of both diseases seem to be especially keen on trying to “infect” the others so it’s better to keep them separated or you risk to listen to endless (and most of the time pointless 🙂 ) discussions!

I guess the only way to cure everybody would be to listen to Aristotle and his concept of the golden mean: the golden mean is the desirable middle between two extremes, one of excess and the other of deficiency
