I’m starting TO hate the Visio TO XMI export OPTION , IN particular, the fact that the generated XMI file changes depending ON the LANGUAGE configuration IN Visio. The exact same UML model generates a different XMI file WHEN USING a Spanish version OF Visio than WHEN USING a French version.
In practice this means that my XMI Transformation service usually fails (AT least partially) WHEN a USER USING Visio SET IN a new LANGUAGE NOT yet included IN my service tries TO transform their models.
For instance, TO guess that an attribute has NO TYPE I need TO CHECK whether the NAME OF the TYPE assigned TO the attribute IS equal TO “UNSPECIFIED”, “SIN ESPECIFICAR” (Spanish), “USPECIFICERET” (Danish), “NICHT SPEZIFIZIERT” (German) … AND this IS just an example, the LANGUAGE-dependent export affects many other parts OF the model AS the VALUE OF the changeability, visibility, navigability properties FOR attributes AND associations.
Will I find someday somebody able TO explain me the rationale behind this design decision? I don’t think so.
