Creating DSLs that fit the users’ needs (Panel at MiSE´12)

As participant in the panel about “Creation of DSLs” in the last MiSE workshop I was allowed to give a 5-minutes initial speech about the challenges of creating DSLs. This is what I come up with:

    Congrats for the presentation. It is a good introduction to DSL creation challenges.

    Did you mean UML instead of GML on second slide?

      In fact, by GML I mean General Modeling Languages in contrast with DSLs which are domain-specific. But sure, nowadays GML is basically a synonym of UML

    while reading this blog I remembered this paper:
    Bari, A., et al., Quality in use of domain-specific languages: a case study, in Proceedings of the 3rd ACM SIGPLAN workshop on Evaluation and usability of programming languages and tools2011, ACM: Portland, Oregon, USA. p. 65-72.
    It’s interesting how HCI appears such as an interesting option in the Quality of DSL’s =)
