Open Health Tools - Model-Driven Health Tools project (MDHT)

The Open Health Tools - Model-Driven Health Tools project (MDHT) aims to provide modeling tooling extensions to the Eclipse Modeling Project for healthcare applications, and in particular, to produce implementations for the HL7 standard .Another interesting project to follow!

Quality of ATL model transformations (help needed)

Marcel van Amstel and Mark van den Brand are working on measuring the quality of ATL model transformations.

OneTree Technologies is sponsoring our repository of metamodels

We are pleased to announce that OneTree Technologies has decided to support the AtlanMod metamodel zoo initiative ( here for a short summary).

OneTree Technologies is also interested in developing collaborative repositories of Model Driven Artifacts and believes that our open metamodel repository is a good experimental material to be used as a starting point for this.

Empirical assessment of the efficacy of MDE (research project)

I'm on the advisory board of the EA-MDE research project , a preliminary research project lead by John Whittle aimed at empirically assessing the efficacy of MDE (e.g. they are trying to find out what factors lead some companies to succeed with MDE whereas others may fail).

Does Microsoft still believe in model-driven development? - the Oslo move

When Microsoft started Oslo (in short, Microsoft strategy for model-driven development consisting in the M modeling language + the Quadrant modeling environment + a model repository), we all became very excited. If Microsoft was keen on investing in MDD it was a good indication that they were convinced that they could make some money out of it.

What is the roadmap for Microsoft "Oslo" Modeling Technologies?

As many other people I was (and still am) excited about Microsoft Oslo . Microsoft showing an increasing interest in modeling technologies is always good news (e.g. this means they think they can make some money with modeling).

The problem is that it is still unclear (at least to me) what Microsoft pretends to do with Oslo.

Research groups and projects on Software Modeling and related topics (UPDATED)

After a couple of requests I've been convinced that it could be useful to include in the portal a list of research projects and groups working on modeling languages, model-driven development and all related topics.

Ideally, research projects should be ambitious projects involving several research groups.

Research projects on Software Modeling and related topics

List of research projects (in no particular order):
  • Model-driven software evolution : the goal is to scientifically study and advance the state-of-the-art in the use of formal methods to support the software developer during the process of evolving models while preserving consistency and improving quality.
  • ModelPlex : it pretends to define and develop a coherent infrastructure specifically for the application of MDE to the development and subsequent management of complex systems withi
