Migrating Drupal 6 to WordPress 3

drupalwordpress

As part of the renovation of this modeling languages portal, we dropped Drupal and started using Wordpress as CMS. Of course, this forced us to migrate two years of portal posts, comments, categories,… over to Wordpress.

The modeling portal is back! (with some changes)

I’m happy to present you the completely renovated version of the modeling languages portal! I hope you like the new look & feel of the portal! Nevertheless the renovation has gone further than just changing the template, so please read below some of the important changes we have done: Now the portal runs on wordpress

New Tag Cloud and Today´s Popular Content blocks

After Google´s Christmas Present OF Canceling my AdSense account I´ve now added two new blocks IN the RIGHT side OF the portal:

  • The top 5 popular entries OF the DAY
  • A Tag Cloud FOR the portal content

I hope this helps you TO discover new contents IN the portal that may be OF your interest.

Comparing the effect of Dzone, stumbleupon, digg, reddit and delicious in the portal

MORE than a post, today I´m writing a meta-post that AS ALL the other meta-posts talks about the development OF the portal itself.

In this CASE I thought somebody could be interested IN seeing SOME stats ON the portal visitors. MORE specifically, this post focuses ON showing SOME DATA about the REAL impact OF appearing IN popular social network sites LIKE dzone, reddit, stumbleupon, digg OR delicious.

Portal’s mailing list – sending notifications FROM Drupal

Instead OF subscribing TO the portal RSS feeds , SOME people prefer TO GET updates FROM this modeling portal directly TO their email.

Easy service subscription WITH FastSpring e-commerce platform

It took me a while to decide that FastSpring was the best e-commerce platform to manage the subscriptions to my online code-generation services .

Retrieving portal content USING taxonomy terms – fixed

Each post/article in the portal is tagged using one or more vocabulary terms defined in my modeling taxonomy. Clicking on the term will retrieve a view page listing all drupal nodes (i.e. posts+articles) tagged with the same term.

Until now, clicking on the term redirected the user to an error page but now I’ve managed TO fix the problem (AT least temporarily, it seems it IS NOT clear yet what makes Drupal TO generate wrong aliases FOR the terminology terms).

Hope you enjoy a new way OF browsing the site

Just for fun – cartoons for business analysts

I’ve added a new resorce to my humor page : cartoons for business analysts .

Tools for Teams: A Survey of Web-Based Software Project Portals

Greg Wilson and I have spent some time studying web-based project management portals and interviewing their creators to learn more about their features, the needs they try to satisfy and their likey evolution.

Feeling lonely at UmlPlanet.com

The RSS feed OF this blog IS included IN several feed aggregator services/directories. One OF them IS UMLPlanet that IS supposed TO aggregate ALL kinds OF UML-related feeds.

Today I went TO the site TO CHECK what other blogs ARE indexed there AND, TO my surprise, almost ALL posts come FROM my blog, so basically I’m the only blogger indexed in UMLPlanet.
