UMLCanvas - bringing UML diagrams to the web

The UMLCanvas project is an important component of the WebUML initiative (commented here )

UmlCanvas is a Javascript library that turns an HTML5 Canvas element into a dynamic and interactive UML diagram editor (only for class diagrams so far).

Similar to other textual modeling tools , UMLCanvas offers a textual DSL to facilitate the specification of class diagrams (there is also an API available). These class diagrams can then be shown in any web page (in fact, UMLCanvas offers also a hosting service to put your diagrams online).

Among their future plans there is also the intention of providing plug-ins for popular modeling tools (first target: Enterprise Architect) so that UML Canvas descriptions can be automatically generated from models specified with those tools (remember that the XMIService of this portal offers a similar option, enabling, for instance, the option of generating yUML models from Visio, Eclipse or MagicDraw UML class diagramas)
