Curious article on Wired this month claiming that autistics are perfect for the job of software development. It seems that their excellent memory and strong attention to detail skills make them more precise and focused when most other minds go numb. Of course, as they say in the article, “clients must be prepared for a somewhat unusual working relationship” (and I guess that they are not well-suited for some of the tasks of the development process that require a more intense social activity, as requirements elicitation).
These statements come from Thorkill Sonne, founder of Specialisterne company specialized in employing people with autism and related syndromes.
