Alternative income for open source software – Adopt a line of code

Via BusinessOfSoftware I learn about Miro , an open-source, non-profit video player and podcast client.

What it is special about Miro is the way their creators are trying to fund themselves to be able to continue working on the product.
As they say: Adopt a line of source code for just $4 a month, and together we can keep Miro alive and growing! You’ll receive a customized page and widgets that display your line of code. Even a little photo of your new buddy, and its personalized name!

Do I really think this is going to work? No but I’ve been wrong many times before AND, IN ANY CASE, I admire them FOR coming up WITH a fresh funding strategy so good luck WITH it!
